Ukrainian producers sold 2.61 million pigs for slaughter in the first seven months of this year, 0.25 million less compared to the corresponding period from 2017.

 

The Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine referring to a Gosstat report said that the average live weight for pigs sold for slaughter is slightly higher and is situated at 107 kg compared to 106 kg a year earlier, as reported by AgroPortal.

The association added that the pork supply in live weight reported between January and July was weaker compared to the previous year.

In the first seven months, Ukraine produced 280.5 thousand tons of pork in live weight, which, according to the association, was 7.6% less than in the similar period from 2017.
