The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) this week estimated Ukrainian poultry production will continue to grow in 2020, although at a slower rate. Ukraine’s chicken industry is dominated by one large producer, Myronivsky HleboProduct (MHP), which is responsible for over 70 percent of total industrial chicken production. The company finished a major expansion program which led to a significant increase in production and exports in 2019. As a result, Ukraine became the world’s seventh-largest chicken meat exporter. Prices for chicken meat have decreased slightly by 0.2 percent during April 2018, and decreased by 5.6 percent as compared to the same period of last year. According to the Information-Analytical Agency EMEAT, imported chicken meat in Russia fell in price by 0.9 percent in April 2018, and became cheaper by 3.9 percent during a year. Purchasing and consumer prices for chicken meat began to decrease at the end of 2016 due to the active production growth and, consequently, the saturation of the Russian market.
