The pig price in Russia has fallen to 92 Roubles ($1.43) per live kg. Half carcasses are selling for 140 Roubles ($2.19) meaning a margin of 1,436 Roubles ($22.4) for slaughter plants. For the large integrated producers margins are still good, although lower than over the past few years. December, January and February are the months where in Russia the price is lowest. For the higher cost producers, the winter is not looking good! New farms continue to be built and stocked and consumer spending pretty static. The Russian pig Price remains strong at 107 Roubles (US$1.65) per kg live-weight including 10% VAT. by Simon Grey, General Manager Russia CIS and Europe, Genesus Inc. Prices are following the normal annual trend downwards at this time of the year. With production costs around 65 Roubles per kg ( $1US /kg) for good producer’s Russian pig farmers remain very happy. Last week Genesus attended the annual Golden Autumn show in Moscow with our Russian supplier, AgroEco. The show was very well attended. We were pleased to be told that AgroEco get the highest price for their slaughter pigs in Russia. This is in part due to the excellent meat-eating quality. Read more...
