Russia’s key pig production area, Belgorod region, has been struck by a severe outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF). In a Rusagro farm, more than 15,000 pigs had to be culled. The outbreak was discovered on September 5, on a farm of Tambov Bacon, a subsidiary of agricultural holding Rusagro. The agricultural holding confirmed the outbreak on September 7 in a press release. The outbreak took place in Belgorod region’s Shebensky district, in the south east of Russia, not too far from the border with Ukraine.
