China's domestic meat lovers have been presented with a new option after Russian beef made its foray into the market. A container carrying 21.4 tons of Russian beef has recently arrived in a designated site for imported meat supervision at Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Product Trade Center, marking the availability of the first batch of Russian beef in the Chinese market, China's state broadcaster reported late Sunday. Russian food exports to China growing

In 2018 China retainы its status as the largest consumer of food from Russia, increasing purchases compared to last year. Russian food imports to Chinese market exceeded a billion dollars, reports Xinhua with reference to the statement by the Director General of the Russian Agricultural Market Research Institute, Dmitry Rylko. The expert points out that the main Russian export items to China are fish and seafood, but the volume of grain supplies to Chinese market remains modest.
