In 2018 China retainы its status as the largest consumer of food from Russia, increasing purchases compared to last year.  Russian food imports to Chinese market exceeded a billion dollars, reports Xinhua with reference to the statement by the Director General of the Russian Agricultural Market Research Institute, Dmitry Rylko.

The expert points out that the main Russian export items to China are fish and seafood, but the volume of grain supplies to Chinese market remains modest.

The head of the National Meat Association of the Russian Federation  Sergey Yushin said that Russia is capable of supplying up to 200–300 thousand tons of pork, as well as poultry and by-products to China. At the same time, he particularly pointed out the lack of objective obstacles for this, especially since the PRC has difficulties with American suppliers.

Summing up a peculiar result, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev raised the forecast for the agricultural products export from the Russian Federation from $ 24.2 to $ 26 billion.
