Сherkizovo Group, Russia's largest meat producer, enters another important export market. The Company begins supplying chicken meat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first batch, produced at the Group’s Vasilyevskaya poultry farm (Penza Region), has already been shipped to Saudi Arabia. It included boneless broiler chicken meat, for which there is a steady demand amongst the Kingdom's meat processors and food service providers. The cargo will be unloaded in the Saudi port of Jeddah, undergo the necessary customs procedures, and be sent to local consumers. In 2019, Cherkizovo has increased its chicken meat production to 766,000 tonnes in live weight, adding 145,000 tonnes in output, according to a press release from the company. The results secured Cherkizovo's position at the top of the Russian poultry industry, with 121,000 tonnes more than its closest competitor's. This is the second year in a row for Cherkizovo to rank as the main poultry producer in Russia. The Company’s poultry division enjoyed a great deal of success in 2019. The first quarter operating results show higher volumes for pork and chicken and increased value for turkey products.In the first three months of this year, Cherkizovo increased the volume of sales for pork and chicken meat and added value to most of its turkey products, according to a press release from the company. In the pork sector, production and sales increased by 18% and 20% respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2018. Prices gained 9% compared to 1Q18 supported by overall protein demand. Ukraine has entered the top 10 world leaders in chicken meat exports after the results reported in the first four months of 2018, according to a report released by the US Department of Agriculture, BusinessCenter reports. Ukraine exported 310,000 tons of chicken meat between January and April 2018. In the first four months of this year, the leaders in chicken meat exports were Brazil, with 3.8 million tons, the EU, with 1.3 million tons, and Thailand, with 810,000 tons. Prices for chicken meat have decreased slightly by 0.2 percent during April 2018, and decreased by 5.6 percent as compared to the same period of last year. According to the Information-Analytical Agency EMEAT, imported chicken meat in Russia fell in price by 0.9 percent in April 2018, and became cheaper by 3.9 percent during a year. Purchasing and consumer prices for chicken meat began to decrease at the end of 2016 due to the active production growth and, consequently, the saturation of the Russian market.
