The Russian ministry of agriculture has formally indicated that pig farmers are no longer entitled to obtain soft loans for future plans. Russia aims to look in unfamiliar directions to develop pig industry – north of the Arctic Circle as well as in the Far East, that is. In January, Russia’s ministry of agriculture published a draft decree proposing the reimbursement of capital costs for construction of pig farms in the country with a special focus on lowly-populated regions, where pig industry has been developed poorly until now.
