This year, a new farm will appear in the urban district of Taldom for breeding cows of English and Scottish breeds. This was reported in the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
“This year, the company Novye Vskhody in the urban district of Taldom brought a number of specialized beef cattle of the Aberdeen Angus breed from the Tver region. Currently, the livestock is 29 heads. The farm also plans to import 60 Jersey cattle in August,” said Georgy Filimonov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region.
According to him, now the company is preparing farms for livestock and fodder is being prepared.
“At the beginning of July, the number of beef and cross-bred cattle in the Moscow region is almost 6 thousand heads, including 2.6 thousand cows. At the same time, the annual production of specialized meat breeds for slaughter is up to 1,000 tons,” the deputy chairman added.
The Aberdeen Angus breed originated in Scotland in the 19th century and is considered the best meat for steaks. The Jersey breed was bred in England at the end of the 18th century and belongs to the dairy breeds.
It is noted that specialized beef cattle breeding is represented in 10 agricultural organizations and three peasant farms in the Moscow region.
