A unique project for breeding hairless Dorper sheep imported from Latvia has been launched in the Perm region. This event became significant for the local farm in the Vereshchaginsky urban district, where a batch of 54 animals arrived. The Dorper breed, bred in 1966 in the Republic of South Africa, is famous not only for its hairlessness, but also for its high meat productivity.
According to information provided by the Office of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Kirov Region, the Udmurt Republic and the Perm Territory, the animals were carefully examined upon arrival, and specialists did not identify any deviations from the physiological norm. Currently, all new individuals are kept in a quarantine zone for 30 days to conduct the necessary research in accordance with veterinary legislation.
One of the key points is that the Prikamye farm acquired these animals for subsequent breeding. Dorpers are known not only for their meat, but also for their sought-after sheep skin, making them a valuable agricultural asset.
This project not only contributes to the development of the local agricultural industry, but also opens up new prospects for local farmers. Breeding hairless Dorper sheep in the Perm region can become a successful example of the introduction of new technologies and animal breeds to increase the production of quality products.
This project is an important step in the development of agriculture in the region and can help increase meat and wool production, which in turn will make the Perm region more competitive in the agricultural market.
