According to Rosstat, at the end of November 2022, the number of cattle in the farms of all agricultural producers, according to calculations, amounted to 17.7 million heads (1.5% less compared to the corresponding date of the previous year), of which 7.7 cows million (1.1% less), pigs - 28.1 million (5.5% more), sheep and goats - 21.3 million heads (1.7% less). In the structure of livestock, households accounted for 38.4% of cattle, 6.9% of pigs, 45.3% of sheep and goats (as of the end of November 2021 - respectively 39.1%, 8.1%, 46, 3%).

At the end of November 2022, compared to the corresponding date in 2021, the number of cattle decreased by 0.5%, cows - by 0.3%, the number of pigs increased by 7%, sheep and goats - by 0.2%, poultry - by 2.4%, the department added.

Meat production

Meat production in Russia in January-November 2022 increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 3.05 million tons.

In November, 298.2 thousand tons of meat of cattle, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat and other animals were produced, which is 6.1% more than in November 2021, and 3.1% more than in October 2022. In January - November, production amounted to 3.05 million tons (+ 7%).

The production of steam, chilled or chilled pork in November 2022 amounted to 268.9 thousand tons, which is 7.4% more than in November 2021, and 2.8% more than in October 2022. For 11 months of 2022, production increased by 8.1%, amounting to 2.8 million tons.

The production of chilled poultry meat in November amounted to 290.5 thousand tons, which is 5.2% more than in November 2021, and 1.3% more than in October 2022. In January - November 2022, the production of chilled poultry meat increased by 0.4% in annual terms, amounting to 3.1 million tons.

The production of cooked sausages, according to Rosstat, in November remained at the level of November 2021, amounting to 134 thousand tons, having decreased by 4.9% compared to October 2022. For 11 months of 2022, 1.5 million tons of cooked sausages were produced, which is 1.7% less than in the same period of 2021.

The volume of production of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products, chilled or frozen in November amounted to 369.7 thousand tons, which is 2.7% and 1.3% more than in November 2021 and October 2022, respectively. For 11 months of 2022, 4 million tons of them were produced, which is 1% more than in January-November 2021.

Production of fish fillets and canned food

According to Rosstat, the production of fresh or chilled fish fillets in November 2022 amounted to 381.1 tons, which is 7.5% more than in November 2021, but 1.2% less than in October 2022. The growth in fish fillet production for 11 months of 2022 compared to January-November 2021 amounted to 22.1%.

The production of frozen fish fillets in November amounted to 15.96 thousand tons, which is lower than in November 2021 by 23.8%, but higher than in October 2022 by 19.4%. For 11 months of 2022, the production of frozen fish fillets increased by 14.5% compared to January - November 2021.

Frozen fish in November was produced 246.6 thousand tons. This is 0.3% more than in November 2021 and 0.9% more than in October 2022. In January - November 2022, 2.6 million tons of frozen fish were produced, which is 7.2% less than in the same period in 2021.

The production of canned fish in Russia in November amounted to 51.2 million conventional cans, which is 15.2% and 20.1% less than in November 2021 and October 2022, respectively. The decrease in the production of canned fish in January - November 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 amounted to 4.6%.

In November, 25.4 million conventional cans of fish preserves were produced, which is 9.7% less than in November 2021, but 7.4% more than in October 2022. For 11 months of 2022, 9.8% less fish preserves were produced than in January-November 2021.

Egg production in Russia in January - November 2022 in farms of all categories increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 42.3 billion eggs, milk - by 1.5%, to 30.3 million tons.

During this period, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight increased by 3.4% - up to 14.4 million tons.

In November, egg production in Russia increased by 4.3% compared to the same period in 2021, to 3.6 billion eggs, milk - by 3.4%, to 2.4 million tons. At the same time, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter increased by 2% - up to 1.7 million tons.

Milk production

Milk production in Russia in January-November 2022 increased by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2021.

"In November 2022, 465.6 thousand tons of milk were produced, which is 2.3% and 5% less than in November 2021 and October 2022, respectively. For 11 months of 2022, milk production increased by 2.6 % compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 5.2 million tons," the ministry said.

According to Rosstat, butter production in November amounted to 23.7 thousand tons, which is 6.4% more than in November 2021, but 11.1% less than in October 2022. In January - November 2022, butter production increased by 11.2% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 287.8 thousand tons. Sour cream production in November amounted to 44.5 thousand tons, which is 0.1% and 1.3% less than in November 2021 and October 2022, respectively. In January - November 2022, sour cream production decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period in 2021, to 491.2 thousand tons.

According to the ministry, the output of cottage cheese in Russia in November amounted to 37.7 thousand tons, which is less than in November 2021 and October 2022 by 10.2% and 3.6%, respectively. In January - November 2022, the production of cottage cheese decreased by 7.6% compared to the same period in 2021, to 423.1 thousand tons. 59.2 thousand tons of cheese were produced in November 2022, which is 9.2% and 2.4% more than in November 2021 and October 2022, respectively. In January - November 2022, this figure increased by 3.4% compared to January - November 2021, amounting to 608.1 thousand tons.

Food prices

The cost of buckwheat in Russia from December 20 to December 26, 2022 decreased by 1.1%, sugar - by 0.7%.

"Prices decreased: for buckwheat - by 1.1%, granulated sugar - by 0.7%, canned vegetables for baby food and rice - by 0.3%, mutton - by 0.2%, wheat flour - by 0.1%," the ministry said.

At the same time, according to the Federal State Statistics Service, during the reporting period, prices for chicken eggs rose by 0.8%, cottage cheese - by 0.6%, cookies - by 0.5%, canned fruits and berries for baby food and vermicelli - by 0 ,4%, beef, chicken meat, sausages, sausages, semi-smoked and boiled-smoked sausages, frozen fish, sterilized milk, dry milk mixtures for baby food - by 0.3%, black tea, bread and bakery products from various wheat flour varieties - by 0.2%, pork, boiled sausages, canned meat for baby food, margarine, rennet cheeses, pasta, rye bread, millet, lunches in the canteen, cafe, snack bar (except for the canteen in the organization) - by 0.1 %.

The price of fruits and vegetables also increased. Thus, the increase in prices for fruits and vegetables averaged 2.3%, including carrots - 4%, onions - 3.9%, tomatoes - 3.7%, table beets and cucumbers - 3.4%, cabbage white cabbage - 1.4%, bananas - 1.3%, apples - 1.1%, potatoes - 0.9%.
