On February 24, Dmitry Patrushev, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, and Askarbek Dzhanybekov, the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development of Kyrgyzstan, held a working meeting. The development of cooperation in agriculture became a topic of discussion.
According to Dmitry Patrushev, agricultural trade between the two countries increased by almost 11% and exceeded 350 million dollars in 2020. There is a positive dynamic in both exports and imports.
The Ministers also considered priority areas for further joint work, including a draft intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the fisheries sector. The document has been agreed upon, and the Russian side is currently working on the procedures needed to sign it. Dmitry Patrushev expressed confidence that the agreement would create additional conditions for the development of fisheries cooperation between the two countries.
Besides, Dmitry Patrushev and Askarbek Dzhanybekov signed a memorandum of cooperation in the supply of agricultural products. The document is expected to expand agricultural trade and to strengthen friendly Russian-Kyrgyz relations.
