Agreements have been signed in 34 Russian regions to curb price increases for socially important food products. The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Maxim Shaskolsky, spoke about this at the government hour in the Federation Council.
More than 2,200 manufacturers and sellers have already signed them. The agreements are regulated by Government Decree No. 662 of April 26 last year. The head of the regulator said that last year and over the past period of the current year, 19 cases of violation of antimonopoly legislation were initiated in wholesale markets for the sale of chicken, milk and sugar, and 25 warnings and cautions were issued in connection with public statements about increasing prices for certain goods.
Shaskolsky also touched upon the topic of control over the provision of subsidies to farmers. According to him, over the past year, 417 regional regulatory legal acts that regulate this issue were analyzed. “The authorities of the constituent entities were issued warnings, which were complied with,” he noted. In his opinion, these measures help expand the number of recipients of such support and increase agricultural production.
