At the end of 2020, Bashkortostan ranks first in Russia in kumis production and second in the number of horses, which exceeds 8.3 thousand. Agricultural producers supply meat products and kumis to trade organizations, social and medical institutions in the region.
The "Development of Horse Breeding in the Republic of Bashkortostan" program is created in the republic to develop the industry and to preserve national traditions. Within the framework of the program, 110 million rubles were allocated for the development of productive, pedigree, and sports horse breeding in 2020.
The Head of Bashkortostan at the next "Agricultural Hour" session instructed the Ministry of Agriculture of the region, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan, to analyze the possibilities of using kumis in the rehabilitation of patients recovered from coronavirus.
“This is an extremely healthy drink. Therefore, we are ready to allocate funds and support local producers who will be able to supply a quality product to improve the health of our residents,” Radiy Khabirov said.
Besides, the meeting discussed issues of arranging modern pastures for horses. One method is to use an electric fence. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture will subsidize 50 percent of the cost of purchasing equipment by farmers. This measure will allow limiting the uncontrolled grazing of animals, avoiding road accidents with their participation.
