Cherkizovo Group, the largest vertically integrated meat producer in Russia, has given the State Veterinary Service of the Belgorod Region equipment to disinfect poultry and animal farming facilities. The equipment can help prevent outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) and avian influenza.
Representatives of the Group handed over Aist — 2m, a mobile disinfection unit with a gas turbine module, to the Belgorod Region’s veterinary department. Worth over RUB 5 m, the unit can be used to effectively disinfect buildings where poultry and animals are held and supports humidification, airing, drying and heating. It was delivered to an animal health center in Stary Oskol.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia continues to face a challenging epizootic environment. In 2021, clusters of dangerous animal diseases were found across the country. These diseases include ASF, the main threat to pig farming, along with highly pathogenic avian influenza, anthrax, foot-and-mouth disease, rabies, and sheep and goat pox. Risks associated with bovine leukosis, brucellosis, leptospirosis and a number of other diseases also remain high.
“Our company understands how much it can do to maintain food security in Russia, so we take every effort to prevent outbreaks of animal and poultry diseases across our facilities. Lending a helping hand to state veterinarians was just as natural. We believe that it is only through cooperation between authorities and businesses that we can keep the epizootic environment in check nationally while at the same time supporting production,” said Maxim Zudin, CEO of Kurinoe Tsarstvo and member of Cherkizovo Group’s Management Board.
