The Veterinary Information System of China's General Administration of Customs (Cefir) shows that four Russian poultry farms have been banned from importing poultry meat into China. Experts note that outbreaks of bird flu and other diseases have not been recorded in the regions where poultry farms are located.
China has banned the supply of poultry meat to four Russian enterprises - Nevinnomyssk and Blagodarnensk poultry farms (branches of the Stavropol Broiler, which is part of the Resource GAP), Agrocomplex im. N. I. Tkachev (owned by the family of the ex-governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev) and Timashevskaya Poultry Farm, Vedomosti reports with reference to Cefir. The message states that the restriction came into force on August 24, until how long it will last is not specified.
Rosselkhoznadzor confirmed the existence of the ban. According to the agreements between Russia and China, the Rosselkhoznadzor is obliged to stop the shipment of poultry meat to China in the event of the detection of a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus and Newcastle disease, however, according to the Rosselkhoznadzor, in the regions where the banned poultry farms are located, no outbreaks of these diseases. At the moment, the department is waiting for clarification from the Chinese side.
If the presence of Newcastle disease or highly pathogenic avian influenza is confirmed in Russian poultry supplies, the export ban will be lifted only after 90 days, experts say.
