On the basis of the Russian Roskachestvo, a national Competence Center in the field of halal products will be created. Its tasks will include the development of national halal standards, standardization, certification and monitoring of the quality of halal products, as well as the promotion of Russian goods on the domestic market and abroad, according to the official website of the Roscongress Foundation.
“In order to form an efficient and reliable infrastructure for the halal products market in Russia, at the government level, it was decided to create a national Center of Competence in the field of halal products and services on the basis of Roskachestvo,” said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
According to the head of Roskachestvo, Maxim Protasov, over the past three years, Russia has managed to double the export of halal products. In particular, to the countries of the Persian Gulf, where in 2021 the country supplied such goods worth $180 million. The largest importers were Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He predicts that by 2024 the export of Russian halal to the Arab countries should reach $400 million, and by 2030 - $700 million. At the same time, Russia does not plan to stop only with exports to the countries of the Middle East.
The annual turnover of the global halal industry has exceeded $2 trillion. This is a dynamically developing sector, the growth rate of which is at least 5% per year. The growth of the Muslim population in the world also contributes to the development of the sector, so by 2025 the share of halal products will be at least 20% of all products produced in the world, according to the Roscongress website.
