This year, sheep farms in Dagestan increased the export of animals to 122 thousand heads against 56 thousand in 2022. The number of young cattle sent abroad this year is close to 10 thousand.
The Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov spoke about the current situation in livestock farming at the international forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories”, held in St. Petersburg on October 12–13. He noted that the region will not limit itself to the export of livestock and raw meat: to increase the volume of supplies of highly processed products to the domestic and world markets, a full-cycle processing plant is being built. Commissioning is planned for 2025.
The enterprise will have at least 30 feedlots for 3,000–5,000 heads of small cattle and 200–500 heads of cattle. Dagestan sells livestock products to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Uzbekistan. Lamb and beef produced in the republic are in high demand in southeastern countries. This is the result of a lot of work done over the past five to six years, the Prime Minister emphasized.
