The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, said that the volume of goods imported through parallel imports by the end of the year will amount to at least $20 billion. He told this in an interview with Izvestia.

“According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, over the three and a half months of the mechanism’s operation (since May 17), almost $9.4 billion worth of goods were imported (in August alone, $3.1 billion). Therefore, we have already slightly adjusted the forecast and now we are expecting imports by the end of the year. goods for parallel imports worth at least $20 billion," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

Manturov noted that companies that have terminated or suspended their activities in the Russian market, as a rule, are interested in continuing their activities or creating conditions for returning in the future. "They are considering various solutions, including the transfer of assets to domestic investors," he said.

Earlier, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation noted a monthly increase in the volume of goods imported as part of parallel imports.

Parallel imports are one of the measures to support importers taken by the Russian government in the face of unfriendly actions by Western countries. This regime applies to original products and provides participants in foreign economic activity with the opportunity to import such goods without the consent of the right holders.
