Dmitry Patrushev, the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, and Monique Eloit, the Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), discussed the global animal health situation, Russia's participation in OIE international projects, and other cooperation issues.

As the Minister noted, cooperation between Russia and the OIE is developing intensively despite the pandemic. In particular, there is a joint project for the control and eradication of animal diseases in the Caucasus and Central Asian countries. Dmitry Patrushev expressed confidence that its implementation would make a positive contribution to the global animal health situation. Besides this, Russia supports the OIE’s work on implementation of information technologies on animal disease control and prevention, the WAHIS+ in particular.

Another topic addressed at the meeting was the Russian applications for official recognition of FMD free zones. The country continues to prevent the spread of dangerous diseases and improve the animal health situation.

As Dmitry Patrushev pointed out, Russia pays great attention to the decisions and recommendations of the organisation and is ready to improve cooperation.
