According to the results of 8 months of this year, the export of poultry meat from the Russian Federation increased by almost 30% compared to the same period in 2021. This was announced by the Director General of the National Union of Poultry Farmers Sergey Lakhtyukhov.
“We see a serious increase in exports, despite all the sanctions and difficulties in the market. According to the results of the first 8 months of this year, export growth amounted to almost 30%,” Sergey Lakhtyukhov said at the KormVet-2022 International Specialized Exhibition of Feed, Feed Additives, Veterinary Medicine and Equipment.
The main drivers of growth were Saudi Arabia, which showed a twofold increase in poultry meat imports from the Russian Federation, and Belarus, supplies to which increased by 8 times. In addition, shipments to the countries of Africa open for export, primarily to Guinea, Congo and Uganda, increased significantly.
“In terms of export volumes, Saudi Arabia overtook Vietnam and Kazakhstan, which traditionally were among the top 3 importers of Russian poultry products. Following the results of 9 months, we delivered almost 40 thousand tons of poultry meat to the country,” the head of the union said.
According to the forecasts of the general director of the union, Russian poultry enterprises have the potential to increase the supply of their products for export up to 500 thousand tons per year. “These volumes will help ensure the economy of enterprises, so that the price at least does not fall,” he added.
