All farm animals, including livestock, pigs, sheep and goats, will be required to be tagged with special identification tags or chips from 1 March 2024. This will allow tracking and control of animal movements, as well as ensuring food safety and animal health. Labeling will also help in the fight against animal diseases and prevent the spread of infections.
Farm animal owners will be required to comply with these new requirements and ensure their animals are tagged by this date.
The entire data set will be stored in the Horriot system, which consists of 4 modules. The first module allows you to create unique identification numbers (ID), the second is designed to record animals, the third module is planned to load information on veterinary treatments, vaccinations, and medication administration, and the fourth collects data on the registration of cases of dangerous diseases.
Horriot will track the entire life cycle of animals: from the moment of birth to the moment of slaughter. All movements of animals, change of owner, and veterinary activities will be tracked. In real time, it will be possible to determine the location and route of movement of the animal.
To simplify work with the system, its integration with the components “Mercury” (electronic veterinary certification within the country), “Vesta” (accounting for laboratory tests), “Argus” (border control and storage of information about foreign suppliers), “Galen” (registry) is being designed. veterinary medicines) “eCert” (electronic veterinary certification of exported products), as well as an API interface for connecting Horriot with external information systems.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the main integration - with Mercury - is planned for the end of 2023 - beginning of 2024. When exchanging data, Horriot will act as a master base for automatically issuing production and transport veterinary certificates.
“Thanks to animal identification, which will become a key element in the veterinary control system, the state will be able to obtain a complete digital picture of production processes in the industry. Citizens, in turn, will be able to receive high-quality and safe products in their diet,” emphasized Sergei Poromonov, head of the region’s Department of Agriculture and Food Resources.
