During the traditional "Hot line" Vladimir Putin said that at the moment the world food price indices are at the highest level for the last 10 years, writes The DairyNews.

According to him, food prices have increased all over the world because of the consequences of the pandemic, production problems, and so on.

‘We had the biggest growth in food prices at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year. Sunflower oil and sugar have risen in price the most. The Government has implemented support measures: agreements were concluded between manufacturers and retail chains, as well as subsidies were granted to manufacturers of final products. The government has also increased customs duties on imports,’ Vladimir Putin stressed.

The President noted that measures to regulate such issues are being taken now.

Vladimir Putin also said that the cost of butter has recently increased from 3.5 to 5%, which, according to the president, is lower than the inflation rate.

He also touched on the issue of inflation, noting that now it has risen to almost 6%.

‘We plan to suppress it. This year it will be possible to reduce it to 5%,’ the president concluded.
