Meat production in Russia in January-August 2022 increased by 7.1% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 2.2 million tons. This is stated in the materials of Rosstat.
"Meat of cattle, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat and other animals in August 2022 produced 281.7 thousand tons, which is more than in August 2021 and July 2022, by 6.7% and by 1 1% respectively. Production for the eight months of 2022 increased by 7.1% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 2.2 million tons," the ministry said.
According to Rosstat, the production of steam, chilled or chilled pork in August amounted to 257.7 thousand tons, which is 8.7% more than in August 2021, and 1% more than in July 2022. In the eight months of 2022, the production of steam, chilled or chilled pork increased by 8.1% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 1.99 million tons.
The production of chilled poultry meat in August amounted to 277.8 thousand tons, which is 0.6% and 1.6% more than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. For eight months of 2022, the production of chilled poultry meat decreased by 0.3% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 2.2 million tons.
Production of meat products
According to the ministry, in August, 145.3 thousand tons of boiled sausages were produced in Russia, which is 5.9% and 4.8% less than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. In the eight months of 2022, 1.1 million tons of cooked sausages were produced, which is 1.7% less than in the same period in 2021.
382 thousand tons of meat and meat-containing semi-finished products (chilled or frozen) were produced, which is 3.6% and 1.7% more than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. In eight months of 2022, 2.9 million tons of them were produced, which is 1% more than in January-August 2021.
Production of fish products
Rosstat also reported that the production of fresh or chilled fish fillets in August 2022 amounted to 353.1 tons, which is 19% more than in August 2021, and 8.4% more than in July 2022. For eight months of 2022, the production of fish fillets increased by 20.8% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 3.9 thousand tons. 16.3 thousand tons of fish ice cream fillets were produced in August, which is 10.2% and 11.9% less than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. For eight months of 2022, the production of frozen fish fillets increased by 24% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 198.4 thousand tons.
The production of frozen fish in August amounted to 255.9 thousand tons, which is less than in August 2021 and July 2022 by 32.1% and 19.1%, respectively. For the eight months of 2022, 1.9 million tons of frozen fish were produced, which is 10.5% less than in the same period in 2021.
41.4 million cans of canned fish were produced in August, which is 3.9% more than in August 2021 and 11.4% more than in July 2022. The production of canned fish for the eight months of 2022 decreased by 4.6% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 341.5 million conventional cans.
The production of fish preserves in August amounted to 19.4 million conventional cans, which is 14.3% less than in August 2021, but 10.3% more than in July 2022. For the eight months of 2022, 166 million conventional cans of fish preserves were produced by 8.1% less than in January-August 2021, Rosstat added.
Egg production
Egg production in Russia in January-August 2022 in farms of all categories increased by 2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 30.9 billion eggs, milk - by 1%, to 22.4 million tons.
During this period, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight increased by 4% - up to 9.9 million tons.
In August, egg production in Russia increased by 1.8% - up to 4.1 billion pieces, milk - by 1.6%, up to 3.1 million tons. At the same time, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter increased by 3.1% - up to 1.3 million tons.
According to Rosstat, in agricultural organizations at the end of August 2022, compared with the corresponding date in 2021, the number of cattle decreased by 1.2%, cows - by 0.5%, sheep and goats - by 1.1% , the number of pigs increased by 4.4%, poultry - by 3.9%.
Milk production
Milk production in Russia in January-August 2022 increased by 3.3% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 3.8 million tons.
"In August 2022, 470.9 thousand tons of milk were produced, which is 1.2% and 0.9% more than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. For eight months of 2022, milk production increased by 3 .3% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 3.8 million tons," Rosstat said.
According to him, butter production amounted to 27.3 thousand tons, which is 10% more than in August 2021, but less than in July 2022, by 2.5%. For eight months of 2022, butter production increased by 10.9% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 209.9 thousand tons. According to Rosstat, sour cream production in August amounted to 46.7 thousand tons, which is 0.2% more than in August 2021 and 1% less than in July 2022. For eight months of 2022, sour cream production decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 357 thousand tons.
Cottage cheese production amounted to 36.5 thousand tons, which is 9.3% less than in August 2021, but 1.3% more than in July 2022. For eight months of 2022, the production of cottage cheese decreased by 7.4% compared to the same period in 2021, amounting to 308.9 thousand tons. According to the agency, 56.9 thousand tons of cheese were produced in August, which is 2.6% more than in August 2021 and less than in July 2022, by 0.6%. For eight months of 2022, cheese production increased by 3.1% compared to January-August 2021, amounting to 435.1 thousand tons, the statistical office added.
