Food production in August in the Russian Federation increased by 8.8% compared to August 2022. Compared to July of this year, the growth was 3.1%, for January-August - 6.5%, follows from the materials of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Beverage production in August in annual terms decreased by 1.6%, compared to July of this year - by 2.1%. However, in general, over eight months the figure increased by 1.3%.
302.8 thousand tons of cattle, pork, lamb, goat and horse meat were produced in August, which is 4.4% more than in August 2022, and 3.3% more than in July 2023 . Production over the eight months increased by 4.5%, amounting to 2.4 million tons. 277.4 thousand tons of chilled poultry meat were produced last month, which is 2.1% less than in August last year, but 2.1% more than in July 2023. In January-August, production increased by 1.3%, to 2.3 million tons.
146.3 thousand tons of cooked sausages were produced in August, which is 2.2% more than in August 2022, but 2.4% less than in July 2023. Over eight months, 1.1 million tons were produced (0.5% more).
The frozen fish market produced 337.8 thousand tons in August, which is 26.2% more than a year ago and 23.5% less than in July of this year. In January-August, production increased by 14.9%, to 2.2 million tons. Last month, 19.2 thousand tons of frozen fillets were produced, which is 10.9% more than in August 2022, and 9.2% more than in July of this year. In January-August, 162.9 thousand tons were produced (17.1% less).
Production of canned fish in August in annual terms decreased by 8.7%, to 39.8 million conventional cans. Compared to July this year, the increase was 1.2%. Over eight months, production decreased by 9.9%, to 341.5 million conventional cans.
The trend in the dairy market is mainly negative. In August, 468.1 thousand tons of milk were produced, which is 0.9% and 0.4% less than in August 2022 and July 2023, respectively. Over 8 months, production decreased by 1.4%, to 3.8 million tons. 27 thousand tons of butter were produced, which is 4.1% less than in August 2022 and 0.2% less than in July 2023. Over 8 months, there was an increase of 0.5%, to 221.1 thousand tons.
In August, 35.3 thousand tons of cottage cheese were produced. This is 3.5% less than in August 2022, but 0.7% more than in July 2023. In January-August, the decrease was 5.8%, to 292.3 thousand tons.
At the same time, cheese production is growing. In August, 71 thousand tons of them were produced, which is 21.7% more than in August 2022, and 5.6% more than in July of this year. Over the 8th period, production increased by 16.2%, to 514.7 thousand tons.
