The agricultural sector continues to be one of the key drivers of the Russian economy and demonstrates growth. The food processing industry, in particular, is showing positive dynamics.

According to the Federal State Statistics Service, there was a 0.9% increase in food production in March 2021 compared to the same period last year and an 8.5% increase in beverages. Last month, in particular, there was significant growth in the production of chocolate and confectionery with sugar (+10.2%), meat and meat containing semi-finished products (+9.6%), frozen fish fillets (+28.7%), and wine (+13.9%). The production of milk (+1.4%) and dairy products, such as sour cream (+2.9%), cottage cheese (+0.7%), and cheese (+2.2%) also showed an increase.

Such positive results have been driven by improved state support measures, a systematic increase in the production of agricultural raw materials, the implementation of new processing investment projects, and the modernisation of enterprises. The dynamic development of the food and processing industry makes it possible not only to supply the domestic market with basic foodstuffs, but also to increase exports of highly processed products.
