In August, wholesale prices for pork and chicken meat sharply increased on the regional market. The rise in prices for raw materials will inevitably affect retail, experts say.

According to Olga Kosareva, associate professor of the Department of Commerce and Trade at Synergy University, by the New Year and Christmas holidays, consumer prices for sausages will increase by 20–30% compared to January 2023. She clarified that the heads of meat processing enterprises, which purchased raw materials during the period of rising prices, planned to increase prices by about 10% in September, but this is far from the limit.

Entrepreneur, marketer and business consultant Maxim Oganov agrees with Kosareva’s forecast. He cited inflation as well as seasonal changes in supply and demand as key factors determining food prices.

In September, the average price of a kilogram of sausage in Tyumen stores was 184 rubles. A kilogram of sausages cost an average of 177 rubles. The peak of sausage sales on the regional market occurred in July. Over seven months they have risen in price by an average of 15%.
