Halal products will be a trend in the export of Russian agricultural goods. This was stated by Russian Trade Representative in Singapore Mikhail Bondarenko during a speech at the “Russian-Singapore Forum: Export of Halal Products to Southeast Asian Markets.”
“Of course, halal products will be a trend in the export of Russian agricultural products. And the countries of Southeast Asia (Southeast Asia - TASS note) are a serious player in this market,” Bondarenko said. “Russia, as a global player in the agricultural products market, ranking fifth among exporters of halal products in the world, certainly must develop this area, especially since we have something to offer the market. <...> We must know all the features of this segment, be able to quickly respond to the current situation in the supply of high-quality, competitive products that meet halal standards. The trade mission, for its part, maintains working contacts with global players, organizations that certify, produce, deliver and sell halal products both in Russia and in the countries of South- East Asia," he noted.
The Trade Representative of the Russian Federation emphasized that “the projected value of the global halal industry market this year should exceed $2 trillion, of which the ASEAN market accounts for slightly less than half.”
"Russian-Singapore Forum: Export of Halal Products to Southeast Asian Markets" took place on January 22 and was organized jointly by the Russian Trade Mission in Singapore, JSC Russian Export Center and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The event program included a report on the halal product market, the certification procedure, as well as information for Russian companies planning to start exporting to Southeast Asian countries, namely Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. The event's speakers were the largest importers from these countries. About 100 representatives of Russian companies also took part.
