The government subcommittee on customs, tariff and non-tariff regulation supported the zeroing of duties on the import of chicken eggs in 2024, the Ministry of Economic Development reports.
“We supported the establishment from January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024 of a tariff benefit in the form of an exemption from import customs duties in relation to edible eggs of domestic chickens imported into the territory of the Russian Federation in the amount of 1.2 billion pieces,” the department said in a statement following the results meetings of the subcommittee on customs, tariff and non-tariff regulation, protective measures in foreign trade of the Government Commission for Economic Development and Integration.
The benefit will be provided subject to confirmation of the intended purpose of the imported goods. The decision will help in the short term to balance the domestic market for edible eggs and ensure supply growth. Supplies can be made from friendly countries, and the initiative has already received support from the Eurasian Economic Commission, the department clarifies.
