The Veterinary and Life departmental publication of the Rosselkhoznadzor reports that, according to the Federal State Statistics Service, in January-February, the total volume of red meat production in Russia increased by 12.2% year-on-year, to 560,000 tons.
When determining this indicator, Rosstat took into account beef, pork, horse meat and small cattle meat (lamb and goat meat) sold by livestock farms of all forms of ownership for two months of the current year.
The volume of production of poultry meat and edible by-products in January-February increased by 1.6% year-on-year to 812,000 tons. During the same period, domestic processors produced 711 thousand tons of meat, meat-containing, chilled and frozen semi-finished products (+7.1%), 367 thousand tons of sausages (+4%) and 130 million conditional cans of canned meat (+29.7%) .
