In August, the Russian meat market saw a decrease in wholesale prices for beef and lamb, while the cost of chicken, turkey and pork increased.

In particular, the average level of wholesale prices for domestic beef in half carcasses over the month strengthened by 0.2%, to 349.5 rubles per kilogram.

Pork half-carcasses of domestic production became more expensive by 13% in August, the average price was 214.9 rubles per kilogram. The cost of live pigs for slaughter increased by 12% and amounted to 146.2 rubles per kilogram.

Prices for half-carcass lamb, after rising in July, fell in August by 2.6% to 430.2 rubles per kilogram, which is slightly lower than the June level.

A broiler chicken carcass was traded in August at an average price across Russia of 198.2 rubles per kilogram, which is 13% higher than the July level.

The cost of a turkey carcass during the reporting period strengthened by 4.2%, to 292.6 rubles per kilogram.
