The development director of Alta Genetics Russia noted the promising opportunities of EkoNiva for herd reproduction and stressed that in the long term, such a model of the company can have a huge impact on the heifer market.

According to the expert, now the company continues to follow its own model of herd reproduction - it is focused on the use of sexed semen to produce heifers with a lower cost.

‘EkoNiva has now curtailed all construction projects, taking into account its financial situation. Their reproduction model was largely focused on the active use of sexed semen in order to get more of their own heifers with a lower cost and then put them on their farms. This model is long-term, and in the future we can expect that such a serious player can put on the market 20-25 thousand heifers a year,’ said Sergey Savin.

The expert added that these are very serious volumes that the entire market will have to reckon with.

Earlier we reported that EkoNiva plans to take a leading position on the Russian market of livestock breeding.
