The information portal Meatinfo.ru with reference to The DairyNews reports that at the international exhibition EuroTier-2021, held online on February 9-12, the chairman of the board of the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center (Astana), Dr. Gulmira Isaeva, spoke about a significant improvement in the genetic potential of animals in Kazakhstan.

Particularly, last year, Kazakhstan livestock companies produced 2.8 million horses and about a million pigs. Modernization of the state veterinary system has begun. Kazakhstan livestock farmers have begun exporting meat to China and Islamic countries and are concluding agreements for supplies to the EU.

The Government of Kazakhstan signed an agreement with the World Bank on the development of the livestock sector. It is expected that large investors from the USA and Western Europe will come to the meat and dairy industries to promote products produced in Kazakhstan on world markets.

Partnership with foreign companies is developing steadily. In recent years, Kazakhstan has imported beef from the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia. Recently, imports of genetic material – animal semen and embryos of elite breeds - have begun to increase livestock productivity. Gulmira Isaeva is confident that increasing the genetic potential and introducing modern livestock technologies will lead to a significant increase in meat and milk production.

According to the expert, it is time to create a new system for livestock farms - and build everything in such a way that every rural resident can take advantage of its benefits. This requires programs that provide access to the knowledge needed by owners of small livestock farms. The project was launched based on the experience of the USA, Europe and Australia. The National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center actively invites foreign consultants who help farmers to combine theory with practice.
