For three years, food exports in Russia have exceeded imports, and in 2022, more than half of the FMCG suppliers managed to increase sales of their products to other countries. Such data was shared with the INFOLine agency by participants in the market research “Expectations for the dynamics of the consumer market in 2023”.
Kazakhstan remained the largest export market for food industry enterprises, while the share of companies that reported deliveries to other EAEU countries increased to 68% in 2022.
According to the results of 2022, 35% of food manufacturers and suppliers told the agency about the growth of export sales, about 40% more kept the supply volumes at the same level. According to the participants of the study, the export of food products from Russia is most affected by the increase in the cost of logistics and the restriction of international payments. Although sanctions matter, they hinder business less than the main risk factors.
“Many manufacturers of food and consumer goods in the second half of 2022 managed to solve the problem of access to raw materials,” commented Ivan Fedyakov, CEO of INFOLine, “although half of the companies still have these difficulties. Half of the market participants is a lot, especially considering that three years ago, in 2019, we did not observe such a problem at all. As for the enterprises that managed to establish supplies, the solutions found are more complex and expensive, but less stable.”
