The Ministry of Agriculture drew attention to the shortage of workers in the agricultural sector. Now the personnel shortage is estimated at 200 thousand workers, and this is already a critical level.

At the Novosibirsk Agri-Food Forum, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut drew attention to the shortage of personnel in the agricultural sector. According to the deputy minister, the situation is especially critical for agriculture, because the level of wages in the industry is lower than in other industries, where there is also a shortage of personnel.

As the deputy minister explained, in almost all regions the salary in the agricultural sector does not exceed the average level for the region. This is due to attempts to keep prices for agricultural products low, which, in turn, is important for the country’s food security. However, the shortage of personnel is a serious problem that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Labor will solve jointly.

“This is our key issue that we will have to resolve in the next six years,” TASS quotes the deputy minister as saying.

Industry representatives believe that the introduction of high technologies in agriculture can help solve the issue of personnel shortages. Thus, the publication “Agropilot” plans to contact the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation on the issue of launching system support for procurement and the implementation of digital solutions in the field of robotization of farms. As an example, the publication cited the Cognitive Agro Pilot and Cognitive Dobrobot systems, which reduce the need for machine operators and agronomists, respectively.
