Marble lamb will soon appear on Voronezh counters. In the Ertilsky district, a meat breed of sheep, the Dorper, is specially bred for this purpose. Their distinguishing feature is the black color of the head. Rarely, but there are also pure white animals.
These sheep are unpretentious in the choice of feed. On the run, they eat everything in their path, leaving only the stems. Because of this, breeders jokingly call them "harvesters". Dorper weight is gaining rapidly. Lambs add half a kilogram at once per day.
Another plus is that this breed does not need to be sheared. Animals shed their hair during seasonal molting.
The farm will soon build a sheepfold for a thousand heads. And in the future they plan to start breeding this breed.
The cost of one such thoroughbred sheep reaches 90 thousand rubles. Marble lamb on the shelves will also be expensive.
- Marble lamb is obtained due to the peculiarities of fattening, that is, this is a change in nutrition. Before slaughter, for a month, the animals are put on fattening. Marble meat is muscle tissue with streaks of fat. Their percentage should be certain, - said veterinarian Maria Vorfolomeeva.
Marbled beef is also produced in the Voronezh region. It is called one of the main brands of the region.
