For almost ten years, Russia has been set in Russia, and this year, most likely, it will exceed the record 80 kg per capita. This was during the conference "Agroinvestor: Pro Livestock and Combacked Feed" said the head of the Center for the industry examination of the Rosselkhozbank Andrei Dalnov. In his opinion, livestock breeding is one of the most successfully built business and state projects in terms of import substitution.
“This is good for the consumer. For the manufacturer, this means increasing competition, it is inevitable to increase the concentration of the market in those sectors where the effect of scale works. For example, in pig farming, poultry farming, the scale effect works, and most likely there will be a concentration to intensify, ”said Dalnov. In dairy cattle breeding, this is felt less thanks to the “space” for medium and small enterprises, especially if they are built into local chains with niche products.
According to Dalnov, demand is reflected in retail prices. However, one cannot rely only on the income of the population, when it comes to demand, since there is an uneven distribution of income. “The price is a factor that affects demand in the short term is the most, but the traditions of consumption are blocked in the long run,” Dalnov noted, adding that “stories that people tell each other” also affect demand, sharing about the opinion of this or that product. Also, demand is affected by a gradual change in the relationship to the content and quality of fats and carbohydrates in products.
“A good trend for livestock breeders who lives and is not going to go anywhere - Clean Label or“ Pure etiquette ”. Livestock breeders produce clear, simple products with a very short label. Manufacturers of ultra -restricted products, vegetable “meat”, “milk” cannot boast of this - they have a much longer label. This factor of the desire for a clean label is that which is beneficial, ”the expert is sure.
In Russia, there is a problem with life expectancy, and it is possible that it is associated with nutrition, and the state can affect it, Dalnov believes. For this, for example, you can finance research in the field of healthy diet; conduct an audit of research and sources in this area and give recommendations; conduct an audit of diet in educational institutions, training programs for nutritionists; adopt a lobbying law; introduce restrictions on advertising of individual products, periodically conduct advertising social campaigns aimed at improving the diet; Adjust demand using food aid programs. “Usually a counterargument - there is no money, but money can be found through excise taxes. I understand that this is a genie release from a bottle, but probably it will have to be done, ”concluded Dalnov.
