According to Rosstat, meat production in Russia in November 2023 increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 309.8 thousand tons. This suggests that the industry continues to demonstrate stable growth.

The main growth driver is pig farming. Production of steamed, cooled or chilled pork in November increased by 1.6% compared to November 2022 and amounted to 276.7 thousand tons. Over the eleven months of 2023, the production of steamed, cooled or chilled pork increased by 4.1% compared to January - November 2022, amounting to 3 million tons.

The positive dynamics in pig farming is due to several factors. Firstly, the industry receives government support in the form of subsidies and preferential loans. Secondly, pig farming is a more efficient type of livestock farming than, for example, cattle breeding. Thirdly, the demand for pork from the population is growing.

Overall, meat production in Russia is on the rise. The industry is showing stable growth, supported by government support, increased production efficiency and growing demand from the population.

Despite the successes of recent years, the Russian meat market still has great potential for growth. According to FAO, meat consumption in Russia is about 70 kg per person per year. This is significantly lower than in developed countries, where meat consumption can exceed 100 kg per person per year.

The growth of meat consumption in Russia will contribute to the further development of the industry. The country's meat production is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. This will be facilitated by government support, increased production efficiency and growing demand from the population.

In addition to growing domestic consumption, Russia also has the potential to export meat. Currently, Russia exports meat to more than 50 countries around the world. It is expected that meat exports from Russia will grow in the coming years. This will contribute to the development of the industry and strengthening Russia’s position in the global meat market.

The livestock industry in general and meat production in particular are important components of the agro-industrial complex and the Russian economy as a whole. The government pays great attention to the development of beef cattle breeding, and the industry is actively increasing the production of quality products.
