At the conference “Export Guides 2023: New Markets and Opportunities”, organized by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture jointly with the federal Agroexport on Tuesday, November 21, the head of the National Union of Poultry Farmers (NSP) Sergei Lakhtyukhov said that the volume of poultry exports to African countries has increased to 1000 tons in year.
According to Lakhtyukhov, large volumes of turkey meat are sent to Benin and Congo - and these are not one-time transactions, but deliveries under long-term contracts. The largest foreign markets for domestic poultry products in monetary terms were China ($523 million per year), Belarus ($264 million), Saudi Arabia ($189 million), Kazakhstan ($110 million), Vietnam ($97), United Arab Emirates ($30 million) , Armenia and Mongolia ($25 million each), Kyrgyzstan ($21 million).
In 2018–2022, according to NSM, the total volume of supplies abroad of domestic meat products (including poultry) increased from 292 to 557 thousand tons in kind and from $410 to $1.438 billion in value terms. At the end of last year, in the structure of export revenue received in this segment, the share of poultry was 57%, the share of beef was 16%, the share of lamb was 1%, and other types of meat accounted for 26%.
