Over the next six years, the share of the Smena 9 cross may take 50% of the market, said Vladimir Fisinin, president of the Russian Poultry Union (Rosptitsesoyuz).

The Smena 9 meat cross was registered in December 2020, and now it occupies 0.6% of the Russian market. “In 2023, we plan to increase its share to 2.6%, and over the next 5 years we are faced with the task of reaching 50%,” Fisinin said in an interview with Veterinariya i Zhizn.

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan also want to take the new cross for testing, negotiations are underway with Belarus, Vladimir Fisinin said. “But first of all, we will supply domestic poultry farms and loudspeakers,” said the head of Rosptitsesoyuz.

According to Fisinin, the new cross is distinguished by high productivity rates, as well as good taste of meat. “Having created the best conditions, we got an unprecedented average daily weight gain - 75 grams. The average weight gain is now 58-60 grams. The potential of the new cross is huge, - Fisinin emphasized in an interview. - I can say that we did not have such a bird. According to him, selection work on the development of this cross has been carried out for more than 35 years. To create this cross, breeders brought out 85 generations of poultry, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences drew attention.
