Representatives of Oman conduct inspections of Russian livestock enterprises to increase the supply of meat products, in general, the sultanate is interested not only in importing Russian products, but also in processing, Vladimir Dergachev, executive director of the Russian-Omani Business Council at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Dergachev noted that in 2018 the Omani Minister of Agriculture said that there was an interest in the country in the creation of canning enterprises, and not just in the supply of cattle from Russia. According to him, they also discussed the use of new Russian agricultural technologies, the construction of elevators, and the creation of a joint grain company. He noted that the Omanis offered to export fresh-frozen fish (tuna) to Russia, the need for investment in local aquaculture was emphasized, but much of the stated "remains on paper or dissolves in the air."

He drew attention to the fact that recently the case moved from the "dead place".

"Currently, domestic enterprises are being inspected for their certification in order to increase the supply of meat products," Dergachev said.

He stressed that Oman has always had and still has potential for Russian agricultural products, primarily sugar, dairy products, rice, and fodder barley.

"But you should not limit yourself to commodity exports, it is in this area that the first steps towards industrial cooperation could be taken," Dergachev concluded.
