Last week, from March 4 to March 10, Rosselkhoznadzor controlled the supply of 3.9 million edible chicken eggs from Azerbaijan to the Russian market. This was reported in the press service of the department.

The shipment, like most others before, was again sent through the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint. No supply irregularities or problems with product quality were identified. In total, since the opening of duty-free import of eggs, the republic has imported 20.1 million eggs into our country. Let us remind you that they are also supplied to our country by Belarus and Türkiye. Since the beginning of the year, they have exported 148 million and 12.3 million eggs, respectively. Moreover, last year Belarus imported 53.5 million pieces. Kazakhstan has recently begun its deliveries, importing 600 thousand eggs last month.

Supplies of goods to the Russian market from friendly countries were opened from January to June of this year. The reasons are a sharp increase in domestic prices for these products and their local shortages since September last year. Eggs are imported duty free. Export quotas are no more than 1.2 billion units. This measure was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture. The ministry also agreed with domestic manufacturers to increase the output of their products. Later, companies and retail chains reduced markups on goods. President Vladimir Putin apologized for the increase in egg prices and their shortage and explained this situation by high demand, which overtook production, as well as untimely permission for imports by the Government. Today, the average cost of a dozen eggs on the Russian market already exceeds 100 rubles and continues to grow; now you can find this product on the market at prices up to 150.
