The Penza region occupies a leading position in the production of poultry meat, in particular, turkey, in the country and in the world. Governor Oleg Melnichenko said this during his report on the work for 2022 in the regional Legislative Council on March 24. Thus, the region ranks first in the Volga Federal District and fourth in Russia. In the near future it is planned to reach the volume of 200 thousand tons.
“Taking into account the instructions of the president that we should now put turkey meat into state reserves and include it in the diet, including the armed forces and a number of structures, we need to increase production by at least 100,000 tons. That is, it opens up quite serious opportunities for development,” the head of the region said. He also noted that even at this stage, the Penza region is in fifth place in the world in the production of turkey meat, behind only four companies from the United States.
