Pork exports from Russia in 2022 may decrease by 10% compared to 2021 and amount to about 170 thousand tons. This was announced by the Director General of the National Union of Pig Breeders Yuri Kovalev during the XIV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Pig Breeding 2022. Flexibility to Challenges - the Path to Sustainability and Development".
"By the end of 2022, the total export of pig products may exceed 170,000 tons, which is 10% less than last year," he said.
He added that in the first six months, exports fell by 25%, but in the second half of the year, exports began to recover.
According to him, poultry exports in January-September increased significantly, exceeding the level of last year by 25%. Beef exports continue to grow - by 3%. The increase in poultry and beef exports offset the decline in pork exports and became drivers of growth in total meat exports, which grew by 8% and approached 430 thousand tons.
Kovalev noted that in January-October, the increase in pork production in live weight reached 7.8% (plus 313 thousand tons), while the growth trend increased from 5.8% in the first quarter to 9.3% in the third quarter. At the end of the year, the increase may exceed 8% (more by 350 thousand tons).
