Russian poultry farmers expect that the plans announced by the Ministry of Agriculture to ban the export of poultry meat will never be implemented. According to Interfax, the head of the National Union of Poultry Farmers Sergei Lakhtyukhov spoke about this.

He explained that this year there was an unexpected rapid increase in demand for poultry products and its consumption, for which domestic producers were not ready. In this regard, the expert expects that next year there will be a significant increase to meet the corresponding need. According to him, last year production has already increased by more than five percent. Currently, in exact figures, he expects the production of this product in the country to be more than seven million tons.

Thus, according to the expert, there will be a surplus that will need to be disposed of somewhere. In his opinion, it is export that will not only solve this problem, while maintaining food security in our country in this segment. Lakhtyukhov also noted that in the future, the export of poultry meat will become almost the only driver for attracting investment in the poultry industry and increasing financing for enterprises for a future increase in production.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture proposed to introduce a ban on the export of poultry meat and edible eggs for six months in October. We were talking about its validity from December of this year to May 31 of the next year. This proposal was one of the possible measures that would help stop the rise in prices for these products. The issue, in particular, was discussed by the Government Subcommittee on Customs and Tariff Regulation. However, for now it remains at the level of discussion, and now nothing is known about its further fate.
