The Ministry of Agriculture plans to resume preferential lending to agricultural and food enterprises until the end of 2023. Another popular program will be returned to the market later, in early 2024.

The Ministry of Agriculture considers preferential lending to agricultural enterprises a sufficiently popular measure to resume the program in 2023. This was stated in a statement by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting of the State Duma committees on agrarian issues.

The Ministry of Agriculture recalled that over the five years of the program, the volume of loans issued has increased several times. For example, in 2017 there were 137 billion rubles in short-term loans, and in 2022 - already 913 billion rubles. In 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture allocated 445.8 billion rubles to support farmers, of which 157.9 billion rubles were allocated for preferential lending, and the program was so in demand that the Ministry of Agriculture began to consider the possibility of doubling the amount of allocated funds.

Also, the preferential lending program was expanded to include owners of personal subsidiary plots. The next step is to expand the program to farmers involved in collecting wild plants; this initiative is currently under consideration.

Another popular program closely related to the agricultural sector is a rural mortgage at 3%. It is planned to resume at the beginning of 2024.
