The Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill on the responsibility of manufacturers for the recycling of product packaging. At the same time, the eco-fee for disposal can be reduced depending on the level of environmental friendliness of the product.

The law on the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer of goods for the disposal of packaging that has lost its consumer properties will come into force in 2025, and the amount of responsibility will grow in stages, from 55% of packaging in 2025 to 100% in 2027, the deputy head of government said in her telegram channel RF Victoria Abramchenko. In the message, Abramchenko noted that the manufacturer will have a choice between taking care of the disposal itself or paying an eco-fee to dispose of the packaging.

At the same time, the amount of the eco-fee will be calculated according to the level of environmental friendliness of the product, the official explained. The eco-factor will change depending on the environmental friendliness of the materials used in production, and this will give manufacturers an incentive to switch to more environmentally friendly production, according to the government.

Abramchenko also said that the government will strictly control the recycling process in order to avoid situations when the company draws up "fake" documents on the work carried out. In the future, all the measures taken will motivate manufacturers to invest in recyclable packaging, according to the government.
