The volume of production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in large, medium and small agricultural organizations in Russia in January 2023 increased by 6.9% compared to the same period last year - up to 1.07 million tons (in live weight). 

Thus, the production of cattle (cattle) in January increased by almost 3%, up to 81.2 thousand tons, pigs - by 9.6%, up to 429.5 thousand tons, sheep and goats - by 55.5% , up to 1.87 thousand tons, poultry - by 5.3%, up to 550.4 thousand tons. Other types of livestock for slaughter were produced at the level of 1.9 thousand tons, which is almost 13% more than last year.

Chicken eggs were received in the first month of the year 3.2 billion pieces, which is 4.8% more than in January 2022. The average egg production remained at the level of 26 eggs per hen.

Gross milk yield in January increased by 6.8%, reaching 1.63 million tons. The level of average milk yield per cow of the dairy herd increased by 6.5%, reaching 711 kg.

The number of cattle at the end of January 2023 in agricultural organizations amounted to 7.906 million heads, which is 0.4% lower than in January last year. Including cows, there were 0.3% less, namely 3.18 million heads.

The number of pigs over the same period increased by 7%, to 25.97 million heads, sheep and goats - by 1.3%, to 3 million heads, poultry - by 2.2%, to 470.85 million heads. The number of horses decreased by 3% - at the end of January there were 219.18 thousand of these animals.

In the first month of the year, agricultural organizations increased shipments of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) by 6.3% year-on-year to 1.06 million tons. Including shipments of cattle increased by 2.7%, up to 87.3 thousand tons, pigs - by 8.5%, up to 428.7 thousand tons, sheep and goats - by 86.6%, up to 2.51 thousand tons, poultry - by 5%, up to 535.7 thousand tons, other species - by 0.5%, up to 2.23 thousand tons.

The volume of milk sales in January increased by 6.8%, reaching 1.6 million tons. Shipments of eggs grew by 5.2% to 2.9 billion pieces.

In January-February 2022, the volume of production of the main types of meat in Russia in agricultural organizations amounted to 1,432 thousand tons in carcass weight.
