The volume of meat production in Russia over the past year increased by five percent compared to 2022, amounting to 3.6 million tons. Such data were provided by Rosstat.
December last year also turned out to be good for lamb, beef, pork, goat, horse meat and other animal meats. During this month, 326,100 tons were produced. This is 5.5 percent more than November of the same year and 5.6 percent more than December last year.
In particular, the production of chilled, chilled or steamed pork over the entire past year increased by 4.1 percent or to 3.3 million tons. In December it amounted to 293,400 tons, which is 4.7 percent higher than the same month in 2022 and 6.3 percent higher than the previous month of this year. In turn, the production of chilled poultry meat decreased by 0.2% year-on-year, amounting to 3.4 million tons. The figure also decreased in December – by 4.6 percent from the same month in 2022, or to 286,800 tons. However, this turned out to be 0.8% more than in November.
Data on the production of processed meat products is also provided. It grew most strongly in chilled or frozen meat and meat-containing semi-finished products – by 6.1 percent to 4.7 million tons (the figure is given in aggregate). In December, their production amounted to 413,500 tons, which is an increase of 6.5 and 5.6 percent, respectively. This high increase is due to the need to satisfy the huge demand for these products for many Russians interested in faster consumption. Production of cooked sausages increased by one percent over the year, or to 1.7 million tons, and in December - to 140,400 tons, or by 0.5 and 3.1%, respectively.
