Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that there are opportunities for a significant increase in the export of meat and grain from Russia to China.
The head of state noted that agriculture is a strategic area of the Russian-Chinese partnership, and mutual trade in agricultural products is growing at a rapid pace. "Last year, trade between Russia and China increased by more than 41%. There are opportunities for a significant increase in exports of meat, grain and other categories of goods to China," Putin said following Russian-Chinese talks on Tuesday.
The President drew attention to the fact that Russia and China intend to actively develop international transport and logistics corridors. "The idea is to make more intensive use of the potential of the Trans-Siberian and Baikal-Amur highways, the Northern Sea Route, multi-lane trans-Asian highways, jointly guarantee their joint operation, and increase the efficiency of transporting goods and passengers," Putin said.
The head of state added that in order to ensure the growing flows of oncoming cargo flows, Russia is increasing the capacity of border crossings and consistently expanding border infrastructure. "Thus, two new cross-border bridges were put into operation last year - a road bridge in the Blagoveshchensk region and a railroad bridge in the Jewish Autonomous Region," Putin concluded.
